King, Pollak & Veritas Wineries
STARTING JUNE 2018
3 STOPS • 5-6 HOURS W/ LUNCH AND TASTING FEES INCLUDED • UP TO 14 PASSENGERS
This three-winery tour begins atop Wintergreen Mountain every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 11 am, and we head to the western frontier of the Monticello Wine Trail along the famous Route 151. We love touring this region not only for the fantastic wines, but also for the majestic Blue Ridge Mountain views – you may never want to leave.
Our first vineyard will be Crozet’s King Family Vineyards, known for its Crosé Rosé and regular Sunday polo matches – historically one of the most publicly attended matches in the world. We will then head down a winding, tree-lined Virginia road to Pollak Vineyards, and along the way we’ll pass by The White House. No, not that White House, but an architecturally-true replica of the original 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. At Pollak, you can sip a bright Cab Franc on the veranda or inside the tasting room with a view of the adjacent lake. Our final stop is Veritas Vineyards, a 50-acre vineyard founded by a neurologist and nurse who, having raised their family, decided to pursue a more viniferous passion. Veritas is known in the region for their wines, but also for their summer evening concert series, Starry Nights. Drink in the rolling property (and a glass of Veritas’ award-winning Petit Manseng) until the sun begins to set.Book Western Region Tour
Using Wintergreen as home base, you are invited to partake in our craft beverage adventure available on Fridays and Sundays at 11am! Take a break from golf, tennis and hiking and enjoy a beer and cider journey along Nelson 151 with visits to some of the area’s finest craft beverage producers.
Your journey starts with a scenic drive to visit Crozet’s Starr Hill Brewery, a pioneer of Virginia craft beer and the second oldest brewery in the state. Enjoy a tour of their production facility and then kick back in their tap room while sampling such notable brews as the Northern Lights IPA and Jomo Lager.
Step off the bus at Blue Mountain Brewery and take in the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains while you walk down the path toward the pub. Beautiful days at Blue Mountain include sitting on the patio enjoying your lunch while tasting each of their hand crafted brews. You can even see Wintergreen from the patio! After lunch, head into the yard and play some corn hole or head back into the brewery for a one-on-one tour of our 15 barrel brew house.
You’ll also visit Virginia’s flagship cider producer, Bold Rock Hard Cider, where you can explore their cider barn and experience a close up view of the bottling line. Wind down your tour with a Virginia Apple or India Pressed Apple and as they like to say, drink in the scenery until it’s time to head back home to Wintergreen!
Be sure to take a little bit of Nelson County home with you to help you remember to schedule a return trip!
