The First Day of Spring!
First things first, we want to send a big thank you to everyone who has visited us this winter and enjoyed skiing and riding with us! The slopes are closed Monday-Friday this week, with the possibility of reopening on Saturday, March 25. It all depends on the weather – stay tuned!
Second, we actually have another first… today is the first day of spring!
While we love winter at Wintergreen, the truth is that the fun doesn’t stop when the snow melts.
Have a Fling with Spring
Spring comes to the mountain with a parade of wildflowers that have been lovingly preserved by Wintergreen Resort and The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen. Mark your calendars for these upcoming events celebrating spring:
Journey to High Places Hike, March 30, 10 am
Join The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen on this six mile moderate to difficult hike through the Three Ridges Wilderness to the Harpers Creek Shelter where we shall lunch among the newly sprouting spring wildflowers.
Easter, April 14-16
An Easter Eggstravaganza full of egg decorating, cookie decorating, crafts, peep roast, peep diorama contest, Easter Bonnet Parade and Egg Hunt. Plus, you won’t want to miss the Easter Brunch Buffet at The Copper Mine Bistro or Stoney Creek Bar & Grill.
See all Easter details.
Frogs and Whip-Poor-Will Walk, April 22
Join Doug Coleman for a night field trip to the future site of Nelson County’s newest attraction, Sturt Park. After dinner at the Lovingston Café, we will proceed to the park to follow the night chorus as we take a leisurely walk along the park’s remote gravel road.
In Search of the Islands of Virginia's Wildflowers, April 28
Join wildflower enthusiast, Jay Shaner for another Wild(flower) Ride in pursuit of Virginia's glorious wild flora.
Spring Wildflower Symposium, May 19-20
Experience The Blue Ridge in all its springtime glory! Hikes, lectures and hands-on demonstrations presented by The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen.
Already Feeling Spring Fever?
Needless to say, during springtime the mountain becomes a hiker’s paradise. With over 30 miles of marked hiking trails ranging from the rugged and steep to the short and sweet, Wintergreen Resort is a hiker’s paradise. Trails explore waterfalls, unbroken wilderness, and incredible views
of the Shenandoah and Rockfish Valley.
Golf and Tennis kick into high gear, and the Spa soothes away any remaining chill from winter. Spring also brings some of our best travel packages of the season.
