Great day to make snow – High of 27 and a low tonight around 20 degrees

With a high of 27 and a low tonight of 20 degrees, we have great snowmaking temps to run our snowmaking system and refresh surfaces. SNOWPOWER is going to help us have a great weekend. The weather forecast shows plenty of sunshine, so it’s the perfect weekend to come on up and get your snow fix.

Snowmaking Plans

Daytime snowmaking is a whole lot easier when you have closed trails to work on.  While skiing through our snowguns is often a much better experience than at other resorts, many customers still don’t like it.  We try hard to balance the need for snow and the ski experience.  Understanding, no snow means no skiing and we are well south of the Arctic Circle… To this end, we have identified a few trails for snowmaking closure today (Friday, February 5) with plans to open these again tomorrow.

  • Big Acorn – needs snow and we have a big 2 day ski race this weekend.
  • Lower Diamond – wind is working in our favor allowing these guns to hit, this trail gets a ton of sunshine and it has some weak areas.
  • Terrain Park – Terrain Parks eat snow like the cookie monster eats cookies.  The more snow we have to work with the more creative we can be with fun features. The more creative we are, the more pushing we do… causing a lot more turning on the snow… the more warm air gets mixed in… the more melting you have… hence the statement that parks eat snow…they gobble up snow.  We also have a big slopestyle event Saturday night.

The weather forecast ahead looks great, with cold nights, cool days and the possibility of more natural snow early next week.  All good news!
