WINTERGREEN, Va.  (April 17, 2012) Wintergreen Resort kicks off summer with a Memorial Day celebration packed with ‘Blues, Brews & BBQ’ atop the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.  Along with a blues-style battle of the bands, weekend festivities include an arts and crafts fair, kids block party and Beach Olympics from May 25-28.  

Simultaneously, Wintergreen Performing Arts will host its two-day Festival of Wines - Today Virginia, Tomorrow the World on Saturday and Sunday in the Evans Center tent.  

A crackling bonfire and compelling storyteller are on tap for Friday evening followed by live entertainment at The Edge.  Saturday begins at Copper Mine Bistro with an All-American breakfast buffet, nourishment to fuel a full day of activities for the entire family.  On the docket are Treehouse programs for children (ages 2 ½ to 12), Callaway Golf Club Demo at Devils Knob, arts and crafts showcase on the Blue Ridge Terrace, Block Party for Kids, Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival with The Battle of the Bands and the World Wine Festival. The evening wraps up with a showing of We Bought a Zoo, a currently popular family-oriented film, shown under the stars at Discovery Ridge.  Additional live entertainment will be available at The Edge.  

Inviting activities continue on Sunday with a variety of opportunities for family time on the mountain. The Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival tunes up in the afternoon for the championship round of the Battle of the Bands and the grand finale of the World Wine Festival.  Memorial Day Monday features Beach Olympics at Wintergreen’s Lake Monocan.
