WPI Premier Equity Membership
Wintergreen is a beautiful and unique resort. Among 11,000 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, 6,000 of which are protected for research and conservation, Wintergreen Resort is a four-season resort adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Nelson and Augusta Counties, Virginia. Wintergreen is the one of the only four season resorts in the U.S. that is owned and operated by its Equity Members. There are currently over 1,700 Members who have helped create a world class destination that combines resort amenities and a Membership club lifestyle for the entire family.
Wintergreen Partners, Inc.
Wintergreen Partners, Inc. (WPI) is a non-stock, not-for-profit Membership corporation that owns and operates the Wintergreen Resort facilities and services. It is the mission of WPI to enhance and maintain the quality of life at Wintergreen for its guests and Members. WPI operates from revenues generated from public guests and annual dues from its Members.
Advantages of Membership
By becoming a WPI Equity Member, you become an equity owner in Wintergreen Partners, Inc. with a stake in the success of the resort. Equity owners help protect the future of their real estate investments through their support of the operations of the resort, which contributes to the financial health of the organization and its competitiveness within the marketplace. In addition, WPI Membership can provide you with exceptional benefits while skiing, golfing, dining, playing tennis or re-energizing at the Aquatics & Fitness center.
Requirements of Membership
There are four basic requirements for a WPI Premier Membership:
- Ownership of Wintergreen property, developed or undeveloped
- A Right of Membership must be attached to the property. The price of a Right of Membership is $14,000*. Once attached, the Right of Membership conveys in perpetuity, regardless of changes of ownership.
- The payment of a Capital Contribution activates the Premier Equity Membership. The cost of the Capital Contribution is $17,000*.
- Annual Dues are paid every year.
Annual Dues
Annual Dues play a critical role in the healthy and successful operations of the resort. It is important to note that Annual Dues are not usage fees but rather a Member's responsibility and contribution, as the owners of the resort, in support of the operations of the resort. Essentially, the more support a Member offers the resort, the more the benefits that will be afforded to that Member. Likewise, less support reaps fewer benefits. Annual Dues are billed each year and an early discount period for savings is offered.
Member Benefits
Benefits for Members vary in accordance with the amount of support provided through Annual Dues each year, ranging from unlimited recreation to a social discount program. Support and correlating benefits can be changed from year to year and each level provides benefits for family and guests as well as the primary member.
Special Exclusive Privileges
In order for Wintergreen to ensure superior accessibility and preferential value for its Club Members, the following exclusivity benefits became effective May 22, 2009:
- Devils Knob Golf Course
Tee times available only for Members* and Resort Guests* up to 12:30 pm on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays.
- Lake Monocan
Open only to Members and Resort Guests on Saturdays.
- Wintergarden Aquatics and Fitness Center
Open only to Members and Resort Guests all day every day from July 3 to Sept. 9, 2009 and all weekends (Saturday and Sunday), holidays and holiday periods (November 20 - 29, 2009 and December 18 - January 3, 2010).
- Stoney Creek Pool, Tennis and Fitness Center
Open only to Members and Resort Guests 365 days per year. Any non-member play must be accompanied by a Member.
NOTE:* Exclusivity group includes WPI Members, Primary Family, Extended Family, Guests of WPI Members, and WPI Rental Pool Resort Guests. All WPI Members, Guests of Members and Rental Pool Guests must present a current photo ID or Resort Lodging Registration Card for exclusive privileges. Above benefits subject to change.

Family Definitions
Primary Family Members and Extended Family Members may be required to show proof of age and relation in order to qualify for Member benefits. Each definition is in relation to the Head of House and/or Spouse.
Primary Family Members are defined as:
- Head of House
- Spouse
- Unmarried Children; under the age of 26 who are living at home, attending school on a full-time basis or serving in the military
- Pre-approved Designated User; living in the home, proof of residence required
Extended Family Members are defined as:
- Parents and spouses
- Grandparents, grandchildren, great-grandparents and great-grandchildren
- Adult Children who do not fall within the definition of immediate family
- Spouses of such family members
