At Wintergreen, winter is more than just skiing and snowboarding. We're the most popular resort in the region because in addition to great skiing and boarding, guests enjoy a myriad of activities including sliding on our two snow tubing parks The Plunge! and The Slide.

The Plunge! is Virginia's largest tubing park. Imagine being on top of a ten story building and looking out over a hill that's longer than three football fields. Now imagine going downhill on a tube at speeds reaching 30 mph. That's The Plunge! Thrills and chills without the spills that sometimes come with learning to ski. To make it even easier, our conveyor lift will bring you and your tube comfortably and quickly back up the hill so you can do it again and again. Some of our guests call it the "scream machine" and we think you'll agree! It's just plain tubular fun.

For a gentler ride, families with small children can find all the excitement they need on The Slide. Open on weekends, this family-friendly setting offers one hour sessions for only $10 per person! just long enough to work up some red cheeks and the need for some warming hot chocolate.

Tubers ready for a change of pace can take us up on our special Guaranteed Learn to Ski or Ride offer. Have a 75-minute lesson, equipment rental and beginner area lift access for just $15. There's no better deal east of the Mississippi.

So remember, while Wintergreen Resort is best known for great skiing and snowboarding, the screams of excitement you hear may be coming from our famous tubing parks. Because after all, anyone can slide!

The Plunge

This 900 foot, 10-lane mega snowtubing hill is located in the Discovery Ridge adventure area.

Recommended for ages 6 and up. You must be 42 inches or taller to ride The Plunge. One person per tube, but you may "hook" tubes together.

The Slide

This tubing area is designed for those seeking a fun, yet tamer, ride for ages 2 and up. Ticketed adults are permitted to ride alongside ticketed children in a separate tube.

1-hour session - $10

The Slide is open on weekends and holidays only. You will find the entrance to the Slide tubing park under the Potato Patch lift, directly behind the Skyline Pavilion rental shop.

• Tubing has become a very popular offering at Wintergreen and weekends and holidays frequently sell out. To guarantee your session, please purchase your tickets online. Please be aware that tickets are sold on a non-refundable basis.
• Please plan to arrive one hour prior to your session.
• Discounted sales for groups (minimum 20 persons) are available for some sessions through the Group Sales office 434-325-8164.

Tubing Shuttle On weekends, a free shuttle makes continuous runs from the Mountain Inn area and and both Wintergarden and Devils Knob Golf satellite parking areas to the Plunge tubing park area in Discovery Ridge.
