Thomas Johnston
Director of Tennis, is a three-time collegiate All-American and former head men's tennis coach at the University of Virginia. Johnston established himself as one of the most innovative and successful coaches in the country. In 1997, UVA qualified for the national team tournament for the first time in the school's history. In another first for UVA school history, Thomas led his team to the finals of the 1998 ACC championships and NCAA Championships. Upon graduating, several of Johnston's students went on to achieve world rankings
Thomas received his MS in sports psychology, completed his doctoral coursework, published numerous articles, and continues to travel the country giving seminars on the mental and strategic aspects of the game. Under his direction, Wintergreen's tennis program is recognized by TennisResortsOnline.com as having the #1 tennis staff in the United States. Jeff Ryman
Head Tennis Professional, a graduate of Methodist University in North Carolina with a degree in Professional Tennis Management. Jeff is a USPTA certified Professional 1 and played 4 years of college tennis, two years at Methodist University and two years at Christopher Newport University. Jeff also is the former Assistant Professional at Chapel Hill Country Club in North Carolina. He is currently the head of Junior Programs at Wintergreen Tennis, and is the director of our Nike Tennis Camp.
