Our facilities at both Devils Knob and Stoney Creek, feature a total of 16 clay tennis courts and three indoor DecoTurf tennis courts, along with six temporary indoor pickleball and eight new permanent outdoor pickleball courts.
Tennis Magazine has ranked Wintergreen among the nation’s top 50 tennis programs for the past 18 years. Tennis Resorts Online ranks it in the top 25 of tennis resorts worldwide, top 15 of Pickleball Resorts and top 15 Tennis camps.
Racquet Sports Facility is only available to Wintergreen Club Members and Wintergreen Resort Lodging Guests.

Wintergreen Racquet Sports Facility has recently added eight permanent Pickleball courts, to the six temporary indoor courts for a total of twelve courts on the mountain.
Pickleballers can take advantage of private reservation times, weekly classes like Pickleball 101, private lessons, and Open Play Pickleball. Paddles are available for rent and balls are available for purchase.
Unsupervised Open Play is the best way to play pickleball in a “friendly-competitive” format! Open Play is when anyone can join in regardless of skill level. Open Play is for players who already know the rules and scoring. If you don’t know the rules/scoring, register for one of our intro lessons. Balls are not provided, please bring a ball.

Wintergreen Pickleball Facility is only available to Wintergreen Club Members and Wintergreen Resort Lodging Guests. There are rental accommodations throughout the mountain that are not managed by Wintergreen Resort, and do not have access to these exclusive facilities.
Ethan Matthews is originally from Boise, Idaho where he played and coached alongside famed tennis coach Greg Patton at the Crane Creek Country Club. Prior to coming Wintergreen he was an instructor at the world-class tennis destination Harmony Meadows in Manson, Washington. Coach Ethan is a knowledgeable and highly enthusiastic coach and sports fanatic.
Shelly Stillman-Scott, a USPTA-certified tennis professional and certified Pickleball pro, has over 30 years of teaching and coaching experience. A San Diego native, Shelly was the first woman to receive a full tennis scholarship at the University of Virginia, where she played #1 singles and doubles and qualified for the NCAA singles tournament as a freshman.
Shelly began her teaching career with Peter Burwash International at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui and has coached in Kalispell, MT; Monterey, CA; and San Diego, CA. Alongside her husband, Bill Scott, she has run Adidas and Nike Tennis Camps at UC San Diego and the University of San Diego since 1991.
Passionate about sharing her love for tennis with all ages and skill levels, Shelly’s achievements include junior rankings as high as #12 nationally in singles and #2 in doubles, and adult rankings of #7 nationally in singles and #1 in doubles in the 45’s division. After working at Wintergreen Tennis from 2017 to 2022, Shelly returns to the team with her wealth of experience.
The Junior Tennis + Golf Camp is held weekly during the summer, Monday through Thursday. Campers will receive tennis instruction by a USPTA or PTR Professional and golf instruction by a PGA Professional. These camps have a small student to teacher ratio and are a wonderful way for junior players to learn the rules and etiquette for golf and tennis.
They will develop eye/hand coordination, fitness, and agility and improve tennis stroke production and court movement through fun games and drills. Golf skills instruction covering putting, pitching, bunker play and fun times in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Wintergreen Resort offers two junior camps, the All Skills and Ages Program and the Tournament Level Program. Our goal is to build a strong technical and tactical foundation to grow a player’s game and help provide a pathway for future development, with an emphasis on the proper fundamentals.
