Play, Learn, and Grow Together on the Mountain!
The Treehouse Facility is now home to Camp Wintergreen for Campers ages 3 to 12 years old!
“Camp Wintergreen” was designed by our Camp Director, Pierce Byrd. She earned a Master's in Early Childhood Education from James Madison University, and has been teaching in adventurous capacities ever since! A veteran ski instructor
for 17 seasons, and currently our Snow Sports School Director here at Wintergreen Resort, she has all the knowledge, enthusiasm, and skills to deliver a fun, educational Summer Camp.
Younger children ages 3-4 are eligible for our “Little Campers Program!” Little Campers will follow a similar schedule to Camp Wintergreen, but with age-appropriate activities and adventures, and a rest time in the afternoon. We know they want to keep up with the big kids, which is why they have their own special adventures planned just for them! "Little Campers" will also enjoy participating in STEAM oriented camp activities!
Children ages 5-12 are eligible for “Camp Wintergreen!” Designed to encourage creativity, exploration and adventure, all while enjoying the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Based on classic summertime fun, we will focus on different daily themes to enlighten, engage and entertain each camper. Every afternoon will be spent either swimming at the Aquatics and Fitness Center on the top of the Mountain or at Lake Monocan! With a sandy beach and a wide range of activities both
in the water and on the shore, Campers will love their time at our Lake in the valley. All weeks of camp incorporate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), so Campers get to explore literally and mentally!
Weekly & Daily camps starting Monday, June 12th, through August 18th.
Let’s explore everything Camp Wintergreen has to offer!
We will go on several hikes to different waterfalls and overlooks, while learning important skills for outdoor survival, like setting up shelter and building a fire. The trails our Campers will be exploring showcase the wide diversity of terrain, natural habitat and animal life in our beautiful mountain setting.
Campers will focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) during our experiments. Campers build core science skills that explore the fundamental questions they want to know, while having fun with hands-on science!
Campers will discover there is more to a rock than a pretty “face,” as they uncover the true ingredients of rocks. There will be hands-on scientific experiments studying the geology of Wintergreen, followed by rock hounding and mineral collecting. Campers will also learn about how STEAM and Nature interact.
Our Camper chefs will focus on different culinary cuisines from countries around the globe! On culinary day, we will experience new cultures and learn to prepare and cook dishes from different parts of the world. Campers will learn to follow both simple and complex recipes while working as a team, pardon the pun, but STEAM applies to cooking too!
Your Camper's creativity is very important to us. Our Campers will explore their artistic abilities while learning different drawing techniques, painting skills and the art history behind it all. Children will explore their creative sides, get inspired by famous artworks, and learn to express themselves with watercolor, clay, pastels and more. Focused on balancing technical instruction with freedom of self-expression, be ready for an art exhibition at the end of the week for parents to enjoy!
Parents and guardians are encouraged to drop off their campers at the Treehouse Facility between 8:30am and 9:00am so that camp programs can begin on time. Pick up is at 4:00pm. Please see full schedule below.
