Wounded Warriors Weekend

Each winter, Wintergreen Adaptive Sports hosts a three-day “Wounded Warriors Weekend.” The 20th annual event took place February 9-11, 2024, offering adaptive snow sports, hearty meals, and lodging for wounded warriors, family members, and caregivers. The weekend was filled with camaraderie, resilience, and the joy of hitting the slopes together, creating lasting memories of shared triumphs.

The upcoming Wounded Warriors Weekend is scheduled for February 7-9, 2025. Visitors on the mountain during the event are encouraged to stop by the Mountain Inn or the top of the Dobie Ski Trail to greet honored guests. TV news coverage will highlight this inspiring event, showcasing the strength, determination, and spirit of the participants as they defy the odds.

Wintergreen Adaptive Sports also offers the “Every Day is Armed Services Day” program. From mid-December to mid-March, all military personnel injured during service can register for free adaptive snow sports lessons, including rentals, any day of the week. Many warrior weekend guests return through this program, continuing to challenge themselves and enjoy snow sports with newfound confidence.

Since 2005, this program has served more than 700 Wounded Warriors and their families, helping them rediscover their love for adventure and forge deep connections with others who share their experiences.
